Internship Info

USA Today is one of the nation's largest newspapers and published Monday thru Friday by the Gannett Corp. It was launched on September 15, 1982.

Various sections within USA TODAY, including its website and TV divisions, need interns, year-round, in McLean, VA, just outside of Washington, D.C.

Internships are limited to students who will receive academic credit for their experience.

Internships are available year round and the deadlines for applying are summer, Dec. 1; autumn, April 1; and spring and holiday interim, Oct. 15.

Standard minimum work commitment is 15-20 hours, two to three days a week for 12 weeks. Specific hours and days vary with assignments but may include evening and Sunday hours.

Who Should Apply

The print desks prefer students with previous internship experience or a leadership role in your campus newspaper and Dot-com desks prefer Web-friendly seniors and graduate students, but exceptional underclass students may qualify.

While Dot-com internships focus primarily on editing, rewrite, packaging and enhancing content, they also include designing the website to include conceptualizing and creating multimedia graphics, shooting and editing video. Students with Flash and Action Scripting skills are especially urged to apply.

To apply, send cover letter and up to three references along with your resume and 3-5 sample clips for print internships or a link to your website and clips for dot-com internships.
