LivingSocial is a website offering members in local cities discounts on various services. Users can sign up free and save up to 50% to 70% each day on their favorite restaurants, spas, sporting events, hotels and other local attractions in major cities.
LivingSocial says it has a subscriber base of over 70 million members around the world in 20 countries and 620 local markets.
The site offers members a new deal every day including travel deals, concert tickets and even online ordering of food from nearby restaurants.
LivingSocial says it has booked over 1 million room nights through its Escapes Travel packages since launching in November 2010.
The company received a $175 million investment from Amazon.com in 2010 and an additional $8 million investment from Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Living Social launched in February 2008. Other investors include Grotech Ventures and AOL founder Steve Case.
Employment has grown rapidly at LivingSocial mostly in sales and customer service. The company has experienced heavy losses and announced it would cut 400 jobs in November.
