History Conrad Hilton founded the company with the purchase of his first hotel -- the Mobley Hotel -- in Cisco, TX in 1919. Conrad's great-granddaughter is socialite and celebrity Paris Hilton. The first hotel to bear the Hilton name was the Dallas Hilton, a high-rise that opened in Dallas, TX in 1925. In 1954 Hilton hotels bought the Statler Hotel chain, making it the largest hospitality company in the world. The company was publicly traded until it was bought by Blackstone Group in July 2007 for $20.1 billion. In 2009, Hilton moved its worldwide headquarters from Beverly Hills, CA to McLean, VA.
